Definition:
(Computerized Axial Tomography)-Type of diagnostic x-ray used to give a three- dimensional picture.

Definition:
This item is used when a person cannot pass feces all the way through their digestive system. It collects any unwanted discharge and is then replaced when needed.

Definition:
An excessive accumulation of tissue fluid.

Definition:
The removal of a tube (breathing tube).

fistula
Definition:
In Justin's case he has a fistula that opens up at skin level and goes to the colon. It sometimes produces mucos. Called mucos fistula.

PA Line
Definition:
(Pulmonary Artery Line)-Provides a way to measure blood pressure. The Pulmonary Artery is responsible for transporting unoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs.

Penrose Drain
Definition:
A rubber tube used to promote draining of unwanted substances. In Justin's case, the tube was folded in half and the open ends of the tube were inserted into his belly. This kept the incision open and allowed the drainage to drop into a colostomy bag.

Definition:

This is a very addictive sedative used to prevent pain and reduce movement.
